As Wilkinson Companies continues to grow, investing in dedicated support for our people has become more important than ever. In early 2024, the company took a major step by introducing a full-time HR Manager — a role designed to strengthen our culture, enhance communication, and support ongoing expansion. We’re proud to welcome Elizabeth (Liz) Gamble, whose experience, leadership, and people-first approach have already made a meaningful impact across the organization.
Leadership Perspective
“Early in 2024, we made the decision to bring on a full-time HR Manager — a big step that reflects just how much the company has grown over the past several years.
The hiring of Elizabeth Gamble has been incredible because she advocates for everyone and has a firm grasp of her duties. It was clear during the interview process that Liz was the #1 candidate due to her great personality, drive, as well as her HR experience working at other mechanical firms. She also introduced us to a new health insurance broker that has truly made a difference. Liz has impressed me with her knowledge, and I know that we are a much stronger organization with Liz here. It is my sincere hope that this is Liz’s last stop in her career.”

Q&A With HR Manager Elizabeth Gamble
Can you tell us a bit about your background and how you got into Human Resources?
I began my career working for a mechanical contractor as a receptionist at the age of 20. I answered the phones and supported the estimators and project managers. The company grew rapidly and support opportunities shifted to hiring, keeping employee records, managing payroll and benefits, ensuring compliance with labor laws and workplace regulations. The position developed organically and I went with it! I really enjoy working with people. I knew this would be my career journey and I have been working in this field ever since.
What led you to join Wilkinson Companies?
Opportunity! HR was a new role for Wilkinson and I knew exactly what that looked like. I was excited to come on board and offer support, leadership and help facilitate growth.
What’s one HR initiative or project you’re especially proud of?
Implementing an HRIS system to streamline workflow processes, provide analytics and strengthen communication.
How would you describe the company culture at Wilkinson?
The culture is a supportive environment where everyone helps each other. Teamwork is just one of the company core values and honestly the most demonstrated day in and out. Associates go above and beyond for each other. It does not matter your role at Wilkinson, if something needs to be done, or someone needs help, you roll up your sleeves and lend a hand. This is the consistent way amongst all teams and departments at Wilkinson.
What do you look for when hiring new associates?
Most of all, I focus on cultural fit. Our interview process is designed to assist in selecting the best candidate who aligns with our values, work ethic and team dynamics and not primarily weighed on skill sets and qualifications. Although these are also important, we place emphasis on hiring the candidate that will integrate into the department and overall company culture.
How does HR help create a positive and supportive workplace?
By putting people first. Listening. Earning and building trust. Promoting a culture of respect, open communication and encouraging collaboration.
What’s something people might be surprised to learn about HR?
HR does not only step in when there are problems. A big part of the job is being proactive and creating systems and programs that build morale and support associates. Spend more time celebrating successes than managing concerns.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone starting their career?
You must be uncomfortable to get comfortable, growth happens when you stretch beyond your comfort zone. Look at challenges as opportunities that help shape your growth!
Coffee or tea? Morning person or night owl?
Love my coffee and most definitely a morning bird!
